Our Story
Born From A Vision
The Kuya Ky Foundation was born out of a profound commitment to intellectual curiosity and human resilience. It honors the life and work of Kyle Allan San Jose Romero (1990–2022), a scholar and seeker who dedicated his time to exploring the physics of grit and the beauty of intentional living.
In 2022, a memorial event brought together approximately 200 people to celebrate this vision. That gathering proved that the principles of deep inquiry and composure resonated far beyond a single individual—they were the foundations for a community. Today, we are turning that momentum into a permanent public service.

Three Pillars Of Impact
We fulfill our mission through education, expression, and resilience-based experiences that help people live with greater intentionality, curiosity, and composure.

Education
Mind Tasting Lab
At the heart of our organization is the Mind Tasting archive. Originally a podcast and digital journal, Mind Tasting serves as our foundation’s textbook—a curated library of research on science, philosophy, and the art of staying calm in a high-energy world.
Expression
Expressive Studio
We host community workshops in art, dance, and journaling, treating creative expression as a tool for mental health and social connection. We use expressive action to help people move from reflection into practice.
Resilience
Composure Arena
We facilitate experiential training, such as our signature Cold Test challenges, to help the community practice grit under pressure and stay calm when life feels cold.
